Monday: Plan a fair test

Rocket grabs two bean cups. "I will change everything!" he says.

Raven asks, "What do you notice about your plan?"

Nova hints, "Change just one thing."

What do plants need?

Plants need water to grow.

Plants need light to grow.

How can we find out for sure?

We can do a test!

A fair test

In a fair test, you change only one thing.

Everything else stays the same.

Then you know what made the difference.

This week, we change only the light.

Get two clear cups that match.
Line each cup with a damp paper towel.
Slide one bean between the towel and the side.
Do the same for the second cup.
Add the same little bit of water to each.
Put cup A by a bright window.
Put cup B in a dark cupboard.

A grown-up pours the water.
Beans are for growing, never for eating.
Wash your hands after you touch the beans.
Keep your first bean plant growing too!
