Body Lab Day: Move and stretch course

Rocket sets up a moving course at home.

Raven tests each station. "What do you notice?"

Nova cheers, "Every muscle gets a turn!"

  1. Muscles pull on bones to move them.
  2. Tendons join muscles to bones.
  3. Muscles work in pairs because they only pull.
  4. Your heart is a muscle that works by itself.
  5. Exercise makes muscles stronger.
◇ FAMILY MOVE-AND-STRETCH COURSE
Make four stations in a clear space.
Station 1: reach up high, then touch your toes.
Station 2: march in place ten times.
Station 3: make five silly faces.
Station 4: bend and straighten your arms slowly.
Everyone takes a turn at each station.
Talk about which muscles worked at each one.
Safety first
Clear the floor so nobody trips.
Move slowly and gently.
Rest and drink water when you need to.
Nobody needs to touch anyone else.
For a grown-up
Let your child invent a fifth station.
Ask: which muscles pulled at that station?
Praise trying, not speed.
COURSE CHECK
