Explorer Day: Three weather checks

Rocket sets a timer for three checks.

"Morning, noon and evening!" he says.

Raven gets her notebook ready.

Nova glows. "Weather can change in one day."

  1. Weather is what the sky and air are like.
  2. The sun warms. Shade is cooler.
  3. Wind is moving air.
  4. Rain falls from clouds.
  5. Animals find shelter. Plants drink rain.
  6. A weather chart shows a pattern.
◇ EXPLORER DAY WEATHER CHECKS
Check the weather three times today with your grown-up.
Morning: look at the sky. Feel the air.
Noon: look and feel again.
Evening: look and feel one more time.
Draw a symbol for each check in your notebook.
Did the weather change? Talk about it.
Safety first
Stay with your grown-up each time.
If you hear thunder, check from a window.
Never look straight at the sun.
Wear a hat if it is hot and bright.
For a grown-up

Ask: did the clouds move or change?
Write the time next to each check.
