A lizard rests on the warm sidewalk.

"It is not moving," Rocket whispers.

Raven asks, "What do you notice about its skin?"

Nova says, "Why does it like that spot?"

Rocket and Raven watch a frog and a turtle.

What is a reptile?

A reptile is a kind of animal.

Reptiles have dry skin covered in scales.

Scales are small, hard plates.

Lizards, turtles and snakes are reptiles.

Many reptiles lay eggs.

Reptiles like warm sun

Reptiles cannot make their own heat.

So they rest in the warm sun.

The sun warms their bodies.

Then they can move fast.

On cold days, reptiles hide and rest.
