Wednesday: Explorer Lab: Word catcher

Raven plays a listening game.

Rocket listens for one word: blue.

"Blue!" Rocket says, holding up a card.

Nova hints, "Listen closely each time."

Today you are the word catcher.

A talking machine picks up words.

You will pick up one word.

You will need

  • A paper card
  • A blue crayon
  • A grown-up helper
Safety first
Use soft voices, not yelling.
Never talk loudly into ears.
Crayons stay out of mouths.
For a grown-up
Say five short sentences.
Put the word blue in three of them.
Say one with blue very softly.
Your child holds up the card for blue.

What to do

  1. Color your card blue.
  2. Sit and listen to your grown-up.
  3. Hear the word blue? Hold up your card.
  4. No blue? Keep your card down.
  5. Count how many you caught.
