Monday: What Privacy Protects

Rocket is building a giant "Meet the Crew" wall next to the Sky Sorter display.

He has pinned up everyone's photo, birthday, home address on Earth, sleep times and last checkup results.

"Visitors will love it," he says. "Total transparency!"

Raven stares at the wall. "What do you notice? You put my checkup results next to my face. I never said yes to that."

Nova hovers over the pins. "Some of this is lovely to share," she says. "Some of it belongs to each person to decide."

Rocket slowly unpins the checkup results. "Okay. So who gets to decide what goes on the wall?"

What privacy means

Privacy is the habits and rules that protect a person's autonomy, identity and dignity.

Autonomy means making your own choices. Dignity means being treated with respect.

Privacy usually covers three things.
