Rocket builds a paper helper called Sorty. He tapes a sign to it: I make choices!
Raven reads the sign. "What do you notice? Does Sorty only make choices?"
Nova spins slowly. "Look at what a helper says," she hints. "Is it a guess, a suggestion or a choice?"
Rocket scratches his head. Maybe Sorty needs a bigger sign.
What an AI system gives back is called its output.
AI outputs can be guesses, suggestions or choices.
A guess says what something probably is, or what will happen.
A suggestion says what you might like to pick or try.
A choice says what to do.
A guess is not always right. That is true for people and for AI.
AI can be wrong. A good explorer checks the output.
When Sorty guesses wrong, Rocket does not get upset. He learns from it.
